Valentine's Day Ornaments

Hi there, friends! It's been a minute, but I wanted to pop in with a few ornaments I made this week to help fill out our Valentine's Day tree (oh, I definitely did it and we're really enjoying having such cheerful decor in our dining room). I used a few different die sets to create these and I truly had fun putting everything together!

I did two different "sets." Let's start with the scalloped set! The base of these three ornaments is the Simple Scalloped Circle Ornament Die.

This first ornament features a small Basic Heart decorated with the Floral Heart Details Die. I used the "holes only" heart to attach the small heart to the base and then embellished each scallop with a clear bead.

I wanted to decorate the back too, so I used the script "Love" die from the Lovely Layers Details Die to add a bit of interest. It's the perfect touch!

On this next ornament I used the Love Potion Details Die to add the heart and mini "xoxo" message. I cut the window and Tundra layer using the dies from the Simple Scalloped Circle Ornament Die. I used trios of beads and sequins to dress up each scallop of the ornament and really make it sparkle.

I used the smaller heart from the Cupid's Arrow Details Die to decorate the third ornament. I chose to use polka dot felt to add some interest to the heart, but you could use reinforced fabric too, if you had something on hand that would fit your theme. A trio of sequins was the perfect sparkly embellishment.

On the back of this one, I created a window using the Simple Scalloped Circle Ornament Die and then stitched the "XO" from the Scalloped Heart Details Die in the center.

The other "set" of ornaments I made were these monogrammed hearts with Sean and Tilly's initials. Tilly asked me recently where mine is, so I guess I have one more to finish! I used the large Basic Heart for these alone with the Embroidered Heart Vine Details Die and Monogram Alphabet letters.

Sean's ornament is pretty straightforward. I stitched the vine and then added the monogram in the center. I don't bother with the Inline Monogram Alphabet in tight spaces like this (just to make sure the holes don't interact). Then I embellished the vine with a whole bunch of beads! This really sparkles without being too feminine.

Tilly's got the scalloped treatment with a Scalloped Heart Details layer between the front and back hearts (I could have left off the back heart, but I liked the contrast of the colors on the back).

I added a handful of little flowers (from the Botanical Butterfly Details Die) to dress up the vine. She's so tickled that she can walk up to the tree and spot her initial!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Stay warm wherever you are and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  • Love the ornaments. Is there a way to get a copy of the inspiration guide that would have came with the heart dies? I purchased the basic heart and heart vine dies when they were released and can’t find by guide.

    Thank you,

  • Lizzie, is it possible to get a list of the dmc flosses that match with your felt? I’m specifically looking for a dmc to match the ripe raspberry.

  • I love these. I feel inspired, should I find the time. I just finished an “XOXO” banner and a pieces that says “KISSES” to go with one I made that says “HUGS” so it was time for a new project.

  • Love these hearts! While making my order today, I see the Needle Book die is sold out. Will that be coming back in stock soon?

  • Love how you combined your dies! Thanks for sharing, I always love to see how you put together the different dies and embellish them, so pretty! I’m thinking about a Valentine’s day garland and have your dies out on my desk, so these added to my inspiration.
