Poshta Presents - Plant Stakes with a Twist!

Good morning, Friends! We took a break from Poshta Presents last week to introduce the new release, but we are back today with another fabulous project from Kelly Morin! Kelly calls this project "Plant Stakes with a Twist." Read on to see how she created them! Take it away, Kelly!

First, I made 10 eggs (I was addicted.) I used the following felt and floss colors: Agave (DMC927), Amethyst (DMC155), Coral Reef (DMC352), Sprout (DMC772), Sweet Nectar (DMC951), Glacier (DMC3813), Pixie (DMC153), Vintage Glass (DMC3851), and Smooch (DMC3804). I also used bits of Tundra and scraps from my scrap bin.

I used the Basic Egg die, the Filigree Egg Details die, and the Embroidered Egg Details die.  All the eggs are stuffed with four layers of acrylic quilt batting.  I used sequins and beads from the Baker's Dozen Color Story and Winter Woods Color Story, along with beads and sequins from my craft stash.  I also added some fun critters using the Petite Butterfly die, Lil' Dotty, and Busy Bee dies.  The flowers are from the Humming Hive Spring Floral Details and the Harvest Pumpkin: Autumn Florals die.  I also used the Banner Builder Scoop die on one egg for the details and the flower.  I know it's a lot, I'm sorry... but I was addicted.

To make the stakes, I used 12" 8/32 threaded rods, hex nuts, large hole European beads, and glass drawer pulls. Kits can be purchased on Amazon as well. I didn't fully load the rods with beads since the felt ornament will cover a bit of the rod (and I am stingy with my beads... ha ha.)

Here is where the "Twist" comes in. I super glued a magnet to the top hex nut and added magnets to the back of the eggs. I used Fabri-Tac glue for the magnets on the eggs. I wanted to do it this way so the stakes can be updated with any holiday or theme you want.

These eggs feature the Filigree Egg Details, Embroidered Egg Details, Busy Bee and the Petite Butterfly. The magnets on the back allow them to be removed from the stakes and adhered to any metal surface as shown on the metal canister.

Any eggs that I am not using on plant stakes can be removed and double as bowl fillers!  It is a great way to add versatility to your felt creations. You don't have to commit to one use.  They look so pretty all grouped together.

Thank you so much, Kelly, for sharing your time and talent with us this month!  We love your creativity!  Be sure to stop by next Thursday as we kick off a new month and introduce a new Poshta Presents guest! Have a great week everyone!
