Poshta Presents - More Back to School Fun!
Hello Friends! It's Thursday, which means a new episode of Poshta Presents! We are back again today with our friend, DJ Gainer! DJ has several school themed projects to share and you are in for a treat! Read along to find out how she created all of this cuteness! Take it away, DJ!
The projects for the first week focused on teacher accessories and I thought it fair that the students should get a week as well!
I remember how exciting it was for my kids to be "Star of the Week". They got their picture put up on the bulletin board and brought pictures from home to share with the class. I decided to make a crown of colored pencils using the Just Write die in primary colors. I used Cardinal, Daffodil, Katydid, Monarch, Majesty, and Sapphire for the main colors on the pencils and paired them with Paloma for the erasers. I used a bit of metallic thread from my stash to give the ferrule of the pencil a little sparkle. You can't have a Star of the Week crown without stars so I used the small star die from the Banner Builder: En Pointe Die set. I used a bit of glitter felt in primary colors but it would look just as good with regular felt from the colors used in the pencils.
To assemble the Star of the Week crown I stitched each pencil onto a roll of Tundra felt using a piece of cardstock sandwiched in the middle to give the crown stability. I attached two 18" pieces of school themed ribbon on each side and trimmed around the Tundra felt roll. The crown will fit any child's head and fold down flat for easy storage! It looks equally adorable tied around a vase as a classroom decoration!
If there is a Star of the Week chances are there are line leaders too! I created these two line leader wands from the Jumbo Crayon die in Majesty/Amethyst and Cardinal/Ripe Raspberry. I again used a piece of cardstock in the middle for stability. I glued an 1/8" x 12" dowel in between the felt/cardstock layer and used matching wooden beads from my stash for the bottom of the wands. Finally, I glued on 12" pieces of 1/4" and 1/8" satin ribbon for some fun accents at the base of the crayon.
Project number three is really for the parents. The Autumn Apple die in Cardinal and Tundra made a cute school themed ornament keepsake. For the picture hole I used the circle from the Birthday Crown die.
The numbers on the back are from the Accessory Numerals Die, but the Keepsake Dates dies would also work perfectly here. Finally, I attached an 8" piece of 1/4" white ribbon to hang the ornament with.
My goodness, I could not love these projects more! There is something about a fresh batch of school supplies (even ones made with felt) that makes my heart sing!
