Poshta Presents - Harvest Pumpkins!

Hello Friends! We are back today with a new episode of Poshta Presents! We were busy last week with the new release introductions, and we are kicking off the month of October with a new guest designer, our friend, Bonnie Bauer!

Hello everyone, I cannot begin to tell you all how excited I am to have been asked to be a guest on the Poshta Design Blog. I have been a huge fan of Lizzie's stitching dies since her Papertrey Ink days. I was over the moon happy when she started Poshta Design. I love all the variety of designs that Poshta carries for all the many occasions and seasons.
I am so happy to have been asked to be the guest for the month of October. Fall is my absolute favorite season to create for. So here we go!
I have had this burlap and lace table runner for many years. I use it on a small side table in our dining room, during the autumn season. I decided it needed a little something to dress it up. I have been seeing so many pumpkins with embroidered patterns at our local décor stores. I thought how can I get this look with my felt dies?

I cut my pumpkin layers from Agave, Glacier and Sea spray felt, with my Harvest Pumpkin dies. I cut into my middle section with one of the dies from Garden Trimmings. The leaves were cut from Pea Pod, the flower was cut from Tundra. I did my lazy daisy stitches in the coordinating DMC thread for Pea Pod. I added beads and sequins. I then did all the top stitching with the coordinating DMC thread for the pumpkin felt colors.
I then stitched the pumpkin to the burlap table runner with two layers of quilt batting underneath. I cut leaves from Truffle and Juniper Berry felt using one of the leaf dies from Falling Leaves II dies. I then used the smaller mushroom from the Woodland Toadstool dies, I cut it from Fig, Toasted Oat and Walnut felt. I then stitched all of them to the table runner. I love the final result, and I can’t wait to put it out on my side table.

I have been seeing bag charms everywhere, so I decided to give it a go for the Ladies in my life. I first cut my pumpkin from Spiced Amber felt with just the outline die from the Harvest Pumpkin die set. I then used the Quilting Bee: Eight Pointed Star die and felt from my scrap bag to create this pretty motif and stitched it to my Pumpkin.

My second bag charm I tried treating some fabric scraps with Terial Magic fabric stabilizer and die cut them with the Harvest Pumpkin dies. I added a layer of felt under each fabric layer for more stability.

I stitched both of my pumpkins together with a couple of layers of quilt batting between the layers. I added a jump ring to the stem with ribbon. Some sequins and a bow finished off my pumpkins. I added it to a brass carabiner clip with some beads to spell out “FALL”, then a beaded hanger with a leaf charm finished it off. I plan on making more of these in different quilt colors and fabric too!

What a lovely set of projects, Bonnie! I love how you dressed up a table runner that you have had for a while. Adding felt details can breathe new life into home decor and make it feel brand new, and your bag charms will surely add some autumn pizzaz to your purses and other accessories. I love that you plan to gift some to the ladies in your life, and I have no doubt that they will love them!
Thank you for sharing some of your time with us today. Join us again next Thursday when Bonnie returns with more autumn goodness! Have a great week everyone!
