Poshta Presents - Folk Art Star Coasters!

Hello Friends!  It's Thursday!  That means a new installment of Poshta Presents!  Our friend Susana Alvizuri is back again today with another beautiful project using the Folk Art Star Details dies and the Holly Hill Color Story!  Read on to learn how she created this stunning set of felt coasters!

For my second project this month, I designed 4 coasters using the same color story I used for the wine glass charms, the Holly Hill Color Story, and combined the Folk Art
Star Details with the Basic Star dies. In both cases, I used the biggest star in the set.  It is the perfect size for an elegant coaster for a mug or a wine glass.

To create my coasters, I used the largest star die from the Basic Star die set, cut two stars in two different colors of felt. Use your creativity to combine the colors. I also cut one star from a cork sheet. It gives the coaster stability and will not slide easily. If you don't have cork on hand, you can cut another star from felt to add some thickness to the coaster. Using the Folk Art Star Details die, cut one star in a contrasting color to stitch to the back of one of the star openings.

I ran both of big stars through the die cutting machine with the Folk Art Star Details die.  I decided which star I wanted to be the front of my coaster and stitched the small star diecut in place in the center. I like to use the color of the floss that matches the back of the coaster. Once I stitched the small star in the center, I layered the contrasting star behind it and stitched both stars to the cork sheet (or to another piece of felt so your coaster will be neat in the back). I decided to stitch the edges using every other stitch because I liked that look better. When I was done stitching the perimeter, I decided I wanted to add a little sparkle, so I added some sequins with a tiny dot of hot glue to finish off each coaster.

Thank you for sharing another beautiful project with us this week, Susana! I just love this color story, and you have used it beautifully! Thank you all for spending some of your time with us today. We hope you will join us again next Thursday when Susana returns with another fun project. Have a great week everyone!
