Poshta Presents - A SWEET Specs Case!

Hello friends! It's Thursday! That means another installment of Poshta Presents! We are joined again today by our June guest designer, Libby Hickson!  Libby has another fun project to share with you.  Read on to see how she created this super cute case for her glasses! Take it away Libby!

Hi everyone! I'm back with my third Poshta Presents installment. Today I am working with the Sweet Treats: Ice Cream Cone Die again. When I saw the recent release of the Protect Your Specs Die set, a little lightbulb went off. I had to make a glasses case decorated with an adorable ice cream cone!

I began by stitching the ice cream cone onto the case. I chose Chantilly and Toasted Oat for my ice cream colors. Again, I pulled a heart from Grown With Love Die and cut it from Lollipop felt. The colors of the glasses case are Lagoon and Sea Spray.

It was a bit hard to capture in a photo, but I wanted the ice cream to have a little puffiness, and not just be a flat embellishment. I like to keep a little mason jar on the table next to me when I stitch in the evening, for keeping my floss scraps.

I use those floss scraps to stuff things like this. I figure why waste them? Better in my ice cream cone than in a landfill. 😊 I do the same with felt scraps, too!

Here's a look at the other side of the case with my glasses inside. I really could have added more embellishments here as well, but I kept it fairly simple. I was a little worried about adding the magnets to the glasses case - I'm fairly new to all of this - but it was easy peasy! You just need to make sure you're inserting them so they attract, not repel.

Thanks for joining me today! I'll be back next week with one more frozen treat project!
Thank you so much, Libby, for sharing this adorable project with us today! We will see you again next Thursday with another sweet treat!  Have a great week everyone!

  • Oooh, thanks for the tip for using up the thread scraps. I already have the perfect jar for them :)

  • Nothing better than a practical item that is also super cute. This would definitely add joy to a pair of eyewear.

Great idea to use the scraps for stuffing.

  • Lagoon is one of my favorites, so the addition of this lovely Chantilly ice cream cone is darling! And thread scraps as stuffing, genius. Congrats on tackling the magnet…that one still scares me…I have to mark my magnets and check, double check, triple check that I don’t sew them in wrong 🤣 Beautiful work

  • How utterly delightful!❤️Almost makes you want to put on the specs Just to show off the adorable case!😊
And I always save my threads to stuff…have a little box that I keep them in right near my stitching spot on the couch. And because I am immensely talented…I still find/wear little pieces all over!😆
