Introducing This Year's Stitched Halloween Collection

Good morning, everyone! I'm so glad you're all as excited as I am about our Autumn release! Today we're introducing our Halloween lineup. We have projects featuring the Harvest Pumpkin: Jack-O-Lantern Details Die, the Friendly Flier Die, and the Witch's Hat Die.

Once again, we have two very talented ladies helping us with the introductions today.

Make sure to visit Miriam Leech's Instagram HERE to see what she has in store.

Wanda Guess is sharing her incredible projects over on her blog HERE, so you'll definitely want to pop by to ooh and aah.

In addition to the new dies, we're also debuting a Halloween Color Story!

Hocus Pocus is a Halloween palette with all the bold colors you might want for your Fright Night needs. This Color Story includes Inkwell, Amethyst, the *new* Monarch, Peridot, and Marigold. The collection includes 5" x 36" rolls of 100% wool felt, coordinating thread, and a carefully curated assortment of beads and sequins. The Hocus Pocus Color Story will retail for $53.

Monarch is a bright, cheerful orange that's a touch darker and more saturated than Clementine. It is a beautiful vibrant color and it really rounds out our selection of oranges.

I shared this comparison of the oranges yesterday, but I'll share it again here so you can see how Monarch measures up against the other colors in our spectrum.

From Left: Squash, Monarch, Clementine, Sunflower, Marigold

Now that we've covered all of those bases let's get to some projects, shall we?

I want to start with this headband I made with the Witch's Hat Die (retails for $25). This one is toddler-sized, but I'll be darned if I'm not going to make one for myself as well.

By the way, I apologize if the photos are slightly fuzzy or at less-than-ideal angles. My model was having a difficult time sitting still.

This hat can be made with or without the star details. I chose to use them for this headband and I added some clear beads for a bit of sparkle too. The hat body is Inkwell and the hat band is Monarch. I used a single sequin to adorn the hat band and look like a buckle. Once it was fully assembled, I simply hot glued it to a ribbon-wrapped headband. Could you sew it to the headband? Probably. But sometimes shortcuts are worth it.

The Witch's Hat die comes with access to an exclusive assembly video that will be included in your shipment. We typically do not create instructional videos for the stand-alone dies, but we felt the 3D dies would benefit from a bit of assembly help. I truly can't wait to make one of these headbands for myself. I'm definitely wearing it for Trick or Treat.

My next project is another with the Witch's Hat, but this time it's an ornament. These come together really quickly and they're so cute!

I also used the stars on this hat, but this time I used a mix of beads and sequins for a bolder look.

I left the "buckle" off this time to keep things looking a little more streamlined along the hat band. There aren't stitching holes in the band, so you can choose how you want to secure it (either with a single stitch or with hot glue/felt adhesive). I prefer the stitch, but either will work perfectly fine. You could whip up several of these hats while binging your favorite show. Then you'd be all set to decorate for Halloween! I need to get one of those black, sparkly trees that Miriam shared in her photos!

This last project is a big boy, but it was totally worth the work! My sister has already called dibs.

I bought a regular oval grapevine wreath at a craft store and then spray painted it black myself (Rustoleum Canyon Black). I set that aside to dry/air out for several days while I worked on everything else.

I created three bats using the new Friendly Flier Die (retails for $20). The Peridot and Amethyst bats were ultimately hot glued to the wreath, but the black bat was attached to an Amethyst Witch's Hat and attached to the wreath with string. The end result is a bat that swings to and fro!

A fun fact about these bats - they are designed with space in the wings to insert a pipe cleaner, making their wings positionable! Just a note about pipe cleaners: the 3mm size fits a little better than the standard 6mm that you typically find in big box craft stores. They are fairly easy to find online though. You could also just use wire if that is your preference.

The Friendly Flier die also comes with exclusive access to an assembly video. The access information will be included in the package when your order arrives.

Down at the base of the wreath I have used the Harvest Pumpkin: Jack-O-Lantern Details Die (retails for $24) to create a smiling pumpkin. This die works as a companion to the Harvest Pumpkin that we introduced yesterday (it does not cut the outer pumpkin shape - only the face details).

I added a few sequins from the Hocus Pocus Color Story as well as a leaf cut from Inkwell felt. You may also notice the bed of Amethyst leaves he's resting on. You'll get to hear more about those leaves tomorrow, so stay tuned!

I hope you've enjoyed today's introductions and I hope you'll stop by tomorrow to see what else we have in store! I am positive that there are a few things you won't want to miss!

In the meantime, it wouldn't be a grand debut without a giveaway! Leave a comment on this blog post letting us know if you prefer creepy or cute Halloween decor before 7am EDT on Thursday (8/25) and I will randomly select one winner to receive a $50 credit to our store! The winner will be announced on Friday (8/26) morning's post at 9am. The winner has 30 days to contact Customer Service (customerservice@poshtadesign.com) and claim their prize. Good luck and we'll see you tomorrow for even more inspiration!
