Introducing The Sweet Treats Dies

Today I am going to be introducing two new dies that are kicking off what I hope to make a series. The Sweet Treats: Toaster Tart and Sweet Treats: Donut Dies are sure to become instant favorites!

First up, let's take a closer look at Sweet Treats: Toaster Tart (retails for $22).

Toaster pastries are an iconic and nostalgic piece of childhood. Enjoyed piping hot from the toaster or straight from the package, they evoke sweet memories through-and-through. Create your favorite flavors with the included frosting and drizzle dies or add a bit of irresistible sparkle with our Rainbow Sprinkle bugle bead mix (more on that in a moment). These Toaster Tarts are simply delightful!

The Sweet Treats: Donut Die (retails for $32) is also sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Everyone loves a donut! Glazed, frosted, covered in rainbow sprinkles…there is a donut to suit everybody. You’ll have everything you need to create a baker’s dozen of your favorites using this delicious die. The die includes the donut, frosting, and drizzle shapes. The shaped base plate makes placing the details a snap. You’ll have a crave-worthy bakery case whipped up before you know it!

And, as I mentioned above, we're also debuting our Rainbow Sprinkle Bugle Bead Mix (retails for $2.50).

Rainbow sprinkles make everything better! Add the sparkle you crave to your Sweet Treats and beyond with this delightful bugle bead mix. 15g of multicolored beads come packaged in a lidded storage jar.

Now that you have all the details, let's jump into the projects!

I made a set of ornaments to help decorate the Valentine's Day tree that I mentioned the other day. I thought a set of tasty treats, glittering with multicolored beads would be a perfect addition.

The Sweet Treats: Donuts can be made in a few different ways. I chose to stuff these donuts. First, stitch the center and then sew around the outside in small sections, stuffing as you go. You may find a small dowel rod or pencil helpful to fill the narrow space (I typically just use my pinky). You don't want to wait until the end and try to do it all at once.

I used a Walnut base with Petal Dot frosting and a Taffy drizzle for this one. The drizzle has a placement die that fits on the frosting to make adding the details easy. I chose to leave off any beading since the polka dots add plenty of interest.

This donut was made with a Chai base and Tundra frosting. I went to town with the sprinkles, making sure to use several of the colors. I really love how this one glitters hanging on the tree.

And finally, I used a Cocoa base with Truffle drizzle on this donut. The placement die for the drizzle is really intended to fit on the frosting layer, so I had to do a little maneuvering with a layer of scrap paper to get it placed just right. You might have an easier time just free handing it, honestly. A few beads and sequins add just the right amount of sparkle.

The Toaster Tarts also have an icing layer and drizzle to add variety. It can be fun to "pop" online and look up your personal favorite flavors to recreate them in felt. I used quilt batting to stuff these and keep them reasonably flat. I also added my hanger at a corner instead of on an edge to make them hang at a jaunty angle. I think it adds a little extra fun to the ornaments.

This toaster tart is a Walnut base with Tundra frosting and a whole mess of rainbow sprinkles. It takes a bit of time to add the beads (I tie off each one to help make them as secure as possible), but I'd say it's worth the effort!

This one is inspired by one of the more recognizable flavors from the leading toaster pastry maker on the market. I chose to use Chai for the base, Lavender for the frosting, and Tide Pool for the drizzle. I got a little "wild" and added iridescent white bugle beads (included in the Rainbow Sprinkle Bugle Bead Mix) for some added texture and shine.

These are going to look so great hanging off our tree! They're playful and charming and totally perfect for a fun and flirty Valentine's Day. There are so many other things you can do with these dies too. Pin cushions, pet toys (bead free, of course - straight stitches in colorful thread are a great alternative for sprinkles), drawer sachets...the list goes on and on!
