Introducing Little Red, Just Hatched, and Embroidered Egg Details III

Good morning and welcome to our final day of Spring 2024 introductions! Today we're showcasing two new additions to the Basic Egg Collection as well as a pretty little hen that you're sure to love.

The third edition of the Embroidered Egg Details Die (retails for $24 - coordinates with the Basic Egg Die which retails separately for $12) has more design options than ever before! This die includes a diamond vine frame border, two optional medallion inserts, and a floral band. This die features a "holes only" design with shaped backing plates that make placement on a Basic Egg shape totally hassle-free.

The Just Hatched Details Die ( (retails for $38 - coordinates with the Basic Egg Die which retails separately for $12) transforms your Basic Egg shapes into chicks and cracked egg shells. These lovable chicks come to life, wings and all! Use the shell frame to highlight monograms, create a peek-a-boo peeper, or showcase special embroidery.

And finally we're introducing the Little Red Die (retails for $20). This industrious hen is ready to add some plucky barnyard spirit to your Spring decor. The Little Red Die includes design details to add a scalloped wing and feathered neck detail. You can create your own flock full of unique chickens with one die!

The stitching on Lori's eggs has me absolutely smitten! I love how she added multiple flowers to her egg by repeatedly cutting the center medallion from the new Embroidered Eggs die. And using that center diamond to feature a cluster of flowers is genius!

I love how Mary used the comb fro the Little Red Die to add a feathery detail to her chick. So clever! And the classic stitching on her embroidered egg is gorgeous!

I've been stitching up some exciting Spring decor lately as well. Let's take a closer look!

I've come to really enjoy making seasonal wall hangings for this narrow wall in our foyer. I went with the In Bloom Color Story to create this little number.

The new Embroidered Egg Details III Die is full of design possibilities. I decided to use the full egg design along with the two center options to create this wall hanging.

This top egg uses the ray pattern in the center. I stitched the little leaf pairings with lazy daisy stitches and then embellished with beads to look like itty bitty buds. I also used lazy daisy stitches on the vine pattern surrounding the diamonds. I used all six strands to make the leaves look extra fluffy.

The center egg uses the woven wheel design. I use all six strands of thread to create the flower, but you can also double up and do twelve. I don't have a video for this particular stitch, but there are many tutorials available on YouTuble. I found this one very helpful. I embellished the center of the flower with beads and then added a couple of leaves from the Mini Egg Basket Details (showcased on Wednesday) to dress things up a bit. You could also use large lazy daisy stitches for a simpler design if that's your preference.

I used the same design on this bottom egg as the top egg, just changing up the colors. This is going to be a fabulous addition to our foyer this Spring!

I also wanted a banner to hang in our family room. It can feel a touch dark down there, and I thought adding a cheerful banner would be helpful in brightening up the space. I chose to use the New Day Color Story for this project.

Fun fact: Many years ago my husband's family owned a chick hatchery, so this banner makes me think of the old family promotional posters we have safely stored in our family room. I paired the Little Red Die with the new Just Hatched Die to create this whimsical decoration. 

I love using the Statement Alphabet to create word or phrase banners, but sometimes I want something a little more whimsical (and, honestly, a little more efficient with the felt). The frame in the Just Hatched Die is ideal for featuring the letters and giving them a bit more substance for a project like this.

I spelled out "Hello" and "Spring" using the Monogram Alphabet, rotating through the colors in my palette to keep things lively and light.

I broke up the words with a playful chick in the center. The chick's facial features, wings, and shell are all from the Just Hatched Die. There are placement dies for both top and bottom shells included in the die. I suggest lining up both shells (just to make sure your placement is where you want it) before removing the unwanted half for cutting. I hope that makes sense. Having both on there, at least at first, just helps you line things up on that curved edge a bit better.

On either end, I included a Little Red chicken. I am so smitten with this hen. She can have a scalloped wing, embroidered feathers, or both! I chose to go with both because my hens are fancy ladies.

To get the mirrored hen on the other side, I simply flipped over my die cut pieces so that the "wrong" side is facing out. Lucky for me, there really isn't a wrong side when stitching on felt. The beak and comb pieces are single layers that just tuck between the body pieces for stitching. I also decided to embellish the neck feathers (done with lazy daisy stitches) with a sprinkling of beads. I love the subtle sparkle of those clear beads.
